my aunt needs new liver and im one of the very few in my family who can give it to her.what are my risks of giveing it to her?I mean what wold happen to me?Am i to young?I really want to give it to her but i need to know exactally what im gettin in to.So could you guys please help me?

These are all good questions that you must consider to make your decision. The liver center that your aunt is using would be willing to answer all of your questions. Ask your aunt for the phone number of her transplant coordinator and call them. Also, the transplant centers usually have many transplant education classes for the patient and their family to attend. Ask the coordinator if there are any that you should attend to learn more.

One can never predict what exactly is going to happen during or after the surgery.
You might be just fine. At the same time I had a chance to speak with a man who received a liver transplant from his brother. Unfortunately, the brother who donated a part of his liver, died from complications of the surgery. The man who received the liver is doing just fine, taking care of his family and helping his sister-in-law to raise the kids.
