Hi. Has anyone approx 3 weeks post op to this procedure begun walking without the surgical shoe or boot? I still have lots of swelling, moderate pain, & maximum impatience. I'd like to start running again but don't want to furher injure the foot. Doc says to wear the boot or shoe till x-rays come out ok; but won't check for another 3-4 weeks. Anybody else at this same place?

that's about right for 3 weeks. I'm at 9 weeks and just at the point of getting back to my long walks. Running would be too much of an impact for a bit. When I went back at 6 weeks for my X-rays my bone was just about healed so you don't want to do anything strenuos on your foot at LEAST until that bone is healed (6 weeks is average for bone healing). Definitely take it easy until that next appointment.

It will 2 weeks this Friday that I had the surgery, and I too am very impatient, I starting to go a little nuts being at home all the time. Right now he took off all the dressings and I am walking around in a surgical shoe, I never thought I would miss work, but I do. I hoping to go back to work in another month. One question I still have a slight heal spur in the foot I had surgery had and was wondering how that would effect my recovery. The doctor said the inserts would help ease the pain, I had cortisone shots in the past and was wondering how often I should have them.

i am 4 weeks post op as well. i am out of the dressing and in a compression mesh type thing to keep my toe inline. I wear the shoe when i get up. i am not suppose to be up on it but being a mom of 2 and hubby works i have no choice. every time i go for a check up he ask if ive been on my feet and i tell him no but he knows better. i walk on my heal when i have to walk to put clothes in wash or do dishes , etc. but i have some swelling, little pain ( more pain after i wake up each morning, i guess from foot being in one position for long time) I am very impatient too. i go back next week and hope i can get out of this shoe but he told me last week i still had 3 weeks to go in it. UGH!!
just when u get up on it do not walk on it much, use your heal and take it easy.

Hey, good for you! It sounds like you're doing very well at this stage, doing laundry & taking care of the house & kids & stuff. I'm doing well too,, though it feels like all the other bones in my foot , particularly the arch , have been rearranged! We'll get there!
