Hi everyone. Well...I haven't written since I went in for my second surgery which was on Sept. 26th. This last one the doc. did: bone/cartilage graft from knee to talar dome, graft knee w/ cadaver bone, drilling/debridement talar dome, tendon transfer, Calcaneus bone moved over w/ 2 screws, and plantar fascia release.
My knee is doing great w/ just a little pain when going up stairs. I am writing to see how others felt at 6 mos. I think I am a little paranoid about pain since my 1st surgery failed! I was feeling pretty good. The weather got nice so the dog and I are walking more. I have developed this pain (sharp) right over the spot on my talus where the lesion was. I also have developed forefoot pain that feels like my 2nd metatarsal bone may snap, and there is a pocket of swelling where it hurts. The forefoot pain and ankle pain both go away when I am off of the foot.
Anyone going through the same thing or experience the same stuff at 6 mos. post?
Thanks:)
Sarah

Hey Sarah,
So you had OATS with a lot of other stuff done? At 6 months it sounds like you're doing really good! 6 months after my OATS I would still get pain at the lesion site if I walked up or downhill. It was fine if I stayed on the level and off of hard surfaces. After 9 months my foot felt much better and more healed. I would just take it easy and slow and your foot should really improve over the next few months! It's good to be a little paranoid! I would think by June you should feel great!
Abby :)

Hi Sarah, I had OATS 3 days before you. I also had other things done, debridement, peroneal tendon repair, ligament reconstruction, microfracture on my smaller OCD, and other cleaning up type stuff.
I just got a CT on my ankle yesterday. I'm also having pain at the OCD site and where the osteotomy was preformed.
Join us in on our OATS/Talus recovery 3 thread. We are all going through the same thing.
Sounds like you are doing great though. This is no easy thing to recover from.

Hi Sarah,
Sounds like you are doing well! I am about 6 weeks ahead of you and I am not yet up to walking a dog ... I think I am having issues with tendons/ligaments that haven't moved in so long. I had an MRI last week and waiting to hear the results of what I've aggravated ;)
I agree with Kris - jump over to the new thread and you can see what is going on with everyone!
Feel better and keep up the good work!
