In 12/06, my mom underwent a bunion procedure on her left foot. During the procedure, a tendon involving her big toe was damaged, which left her foot hyperflexed, swollen and in chronic pain. 3 more procedures were done (3/29/07, 5/26/07, 11/16/07) but left her foot in worse condition. Her big toe is always positioned upward and she can not wiggle the toe. Now, her podiatrist is recommending plastic surgery in an attempt to lyse the scar tissue around her grafted tendon. The plastic surgeon guesstimates 50-60% success rate. As you can imagine, my mom is very scared and reluctant to proceed. But at the same time, she needs advice to help find a way to reduce the pain. Not sure if this was the wrongdoing of the podiatrist but we've talked to many lawyers without success. Please help! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
