Hiya! Okay, so I'm 24... active, normal weight (5 foot 9.5 inches, 150 lbs). I'm a vegetarian, have been for 14 years. I just got my cholesterol levels back last week, and they were 273! My good cholesterol was 61, though.

So, I've been eating my Oatmeal and Cheerios every morning, haha. I also cut out cheese and high fat milk.

Tonight, I am going out for dinner... (yikes!). We are headed to a Chinese restaurant (pretty healthy, if you get the right thing).

I was thinking of ordering curry vegetables over white rice. Would that be a grave error? Haha, what should I order!?

Thanks! =)

Although most Chinese vegetable dishes don't have anything that would be bad for your cholesterol levels, they are often made with a lot of oil in restaurants. This may be a concern if you are attempting to lose excess body fat (loss of excess body fat helps lower LDL and VLDL levels). Also, white rice may not be that good for your VLDL levels.

Total cholesterol may be less important than knowing what it is made of -- HDL (good), LDL (bad), VLDL / triglycerides (bad).
