Many people who are depressed have similar urges like you do. I can't say as they would want to cut there whole arm off. They just want to relieve the greater emotional pain that has built up inside of them. By the way what do you mean by BIID or BDD. This is a good topic to bring up in the depression forum or the bipolar forum if depression is what you feel you have. There are some great posters on those forums as well.They might be able to answer what BDD or BIID is. I personally think that BDD means bipolar disorder and BIID means bipolar 2 disorder but I could be wrong. Other than that I have no idea what they could mean

I do have depression. And psychosis and multiple personality disorder. BIID is body integrity identity disorder, or so i have heard??

Ok BDD means body dismorphic disorder and BIID means Body integrety identity disorder. Sorry it has nothing to do with bipolar. Where did you get these disorders from. They are very serious and need to be dealt with by a psychiatrist. Don't mean to put any pressure on you or anything.

well, i have personalities that i am not aware of. For example once i was making a cup of tea, and the next thing i knew i had the kettle, and i was pouring it all over myself. This is a bad personality, who, in my case is called 'phoebe'. I do not realise what she is doig until i come back to being me.
I have over 24 personlaites,.
In MPD, the theory is that personalities 'originate' when someting in your life happens that you cannot cope with- so you create someone else, in your own body to cope with it.
I am still finding hard to understand!!

Wow that sound like a scary diagnosis to have. I think that another term for it is called dissociate identity disorder. Thats what they call it nowadays. So what kind of treatment do you have to go through to get better.

there is no medication for it. yes it is also known as d.i.d. well, it is scary- especially as i feel out of control, as i am doing things i am not aware of, i.e hitting people, trashing rooms etc.
But, me, as me, i really want to cut off my arm- although i could not tell you if any of the other 'me's' do.

Is it just an urge to cut your arm off or is there reasons as to why you would like to do it? It wouldn't be a fun experience to go through. If you hit an artery in the process which is 100% likely if you'd be cutting your whole arm then you would have to go to the ER within minutes or else you would die.

I guess it is really complicated- thats why i am not sure if it is BIID. Because:
- Although i do really really desperately want to cut off my arm, i do have a reason behind it, which i'm not sure if BIID sufferers do- the information i got about it was that some of them just dont feel 'whole' with a certain part of their body attatched to them
-I couldn't care less if i did die in the process- which i think BIID sufferers do, as they get their body part amputated so they don't feel they need to die
-Although i s/h, it is a mixture of reasons why: -Punishment (major one)
-Release
-the 'high'
-to be in control of the pain i am caused, instead of one of my alters doing it.
And so on....
