I have had a sore on the inside of my nose for months. It just wont heal and sometimes bleeds and always hurts. I noticed today that there is a small red spot on the outside of my nose which corresponds exactly with the sore inside. I am a bit afraid that it could be some form of cancer as my gran and her mother both had cancer of the nose. I am reluctant to go to the doctors in case I make a fool of myself. A few weeks ago I started with a cough but no cold and a sore throat which doesn't get any worse. Has anyone had a similar experience.

Make an appointment and get it checked out. It may just be a cold sore or some type of infection. With your family history I would get it checked out and do not delay......better to catch it early if it is something........
Let us know what you find out.........Oleander

Hi, Bryherdian,
I agree with your friend, Oleander. Get it checked out. I presume you have been worried about you having the same problem your mother and gran had and did not ask your doctor about it. If you brought it to the attention of your GP and he/she did not refer you to a derm doctor, he/she is the one being a bit foolish. Hopefully it is not cancer. Even if it is not, the doctor should be able to prescribe a course of treatment that fix this problem. I was wondering what treatment your mother/gran received and how they are doing. Good luck. I think these things are better evaluated when one is feeling a little foolish going before the severity of a problem is clearly seen.

Dale, that is a good question. Bryherdian can you ask your family what type of cancer they had? Very important to know that information....... Keep it written down somewhere for the future.......Make sure your Doctor knows your family history.

Hi Dale and Orleander,
Thank you so much for taking to trouble to reply to my worry. Sadly, both my grandmother and gt. grandmother are dead and my mother is very elderly and can't remember what the name of the cancer was. I think I will brave the doctor though as I will need to see him very soon for a repeat prescription. I don't think it is cancer but there are other patches on my face now that are rather odd so I will ask about them all at the same time. I do spend most of the day outdoors as I have horses, chickens and other animals who demand my attention, but I am not a sun worshiper. I lived in southern Spain for 12 years so that won't have helped. I am now in France so its not so sunny so often. I am not usually bothered about illnesses etc as I can't affort the time to be ill, but this might just be something to take care about.
Once again, very many thanks.
