i was diagnosed with hcv and cirrhosis 3yrs ago. this year my condition has worsened. i took three injections of interferon which caused my bilirubin to go to 7 and platelets to 35. i stopped taking the mediction. after a month, my bilirubin is still 6+ and platelets are 77. i am fatigued and diagnosed anemic. i have an enlarged spleen. doctors say they can't do anything. unless my conditions worsen i cannot get the transplant. i am miserable. need all of your feedback. thanks.

Have you seen a gastroenterologist and at least been informed of various treatments?
I had HCV and still have Stage 4 cirrhosis. I just finished a year of Peg-Intron injections combined with Ribivirin capsules. I felt pretty crummy for a year, but my viral load count is at about 50. The doc says that I don't have the HCV anymore. The cirrhosis is another story.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
Congratulations for getting rid of hcv. May God bless you and shower you with His mercy and igve you full health and speedy recovery.

Yes, I see Gastro and Hepatologist. With there recommendations and test results, I was put on the liver transplant list. My conditions is such that I cannot take interferon therapy. With three injections, my hepatologist had to take me off from the therapy. Maybe 3 years ago, it would have been useful.

For those with Cirrosis, what kind of ALT and AST levels were you showing in blood tests?

There are some quite effective natural or alternative trements for liver disorders. There is lots of info for treating this disorder, but if you are not familiar with the terms or school of natural healing, I would recomend a proffessional in the field.

my father has cirrohsis from drinking, he was diagnosed about a year and a half ago, he had bleeding and they operated 5 times to close the holes, now they say he has swelling in the esophagues? is this one of the end stages, is there much they can do now? they are suppose to go in with a scope to see how bad it is. Can anyone tell me how bad his cirrohsis is getting? how much time is left?
