I was reading that a woman can drink 3 8 ounce drinks per day for 10-15 yrs and develop cirrhosis. With men it's 5 per day for the same length of time.
I have been drinking for 20 yrs and don't have any major problems. As a teen I started out always drinking too much, however, I didn't drink every single day. But when I drank which was 3 times or more a week I really drank alot. I am worried about it now that I don't drink anymore. I am in my late 30's and a woman. Am I too old to heal or has anyone had any severe liver problems from drinking and completely recovered???? It must be partially genetic. My grandparents still drink like fish and they're in their 80's. But who wants to take that risk of taking our health for granted. I don't want any surprises. I also know someone who has died from drinking too much.. It really scares me to think that drinking isn't all fun and games like people think. Any input would greatly be appreciated. Any experiences with drinking and liver problems?
