Hi Lonelysun, sorry to hear about the problems you're having, that's got to be tough. I wish I had some answers for you but I don't know much about liver problems or MS for that matter. But I did used to have a friend who had MS & she had to give up alcohol altogether because it made her symptoms worse.

Have you found anymore info on the internet since you last posted? Let me know how you're doing ok? Best of luck to you.

lonelysun,
sorry you're having such a rough time... as you know, ms is an autoimmune disease of the nervous system, and i've read that people with one autoimmune disease are more likely to have other autoimmune diseases. well, i have an autoimmune disease where my immune system attacks my liver, it's called autoimmune hepatitis. it's not a like hep a, b or c, you don't catch this, you just have it, like ms. you should ask your doctors about that... good luck.

also, the following drugs are used to treat ms, if you're on any of them, you might want to ask your doctor to do some liver function tests for you...
Zocor and other statins can occasionally raise liver enzymes -- indicating that the drug may be harming the liver. In this study, two of the patients had mildly elevated liver tests, which resolved after stopping the drug.
Based on original clinical trial data, labeling for each of the interferon medications recommended liver function tests to determine if the medications were having any negative effects. The FDA has recently added information from post-marketing data to the labels of two of the medications.
A post-marketing case of liver failure has been reported in a person taking Rebif®.
