I have been treated with RFA in Apr. for liver tumors and diagnosed with this disease. Is there anyone in the Portland OR area that is being treated for this if so what Drs did you find?

What is RFA and how does it work?

It is radiofrequency ablation. Destroys the tumor with heat and them the tumor is supposed to die and be reabsorbed into the body. There's a lot on the net about this.

Did this procedure destroy your liver tumors? What was the results after it was done? Was it painful? I am curious because this is the first I have heard of this being done. Most of the others you read about have liver resection but I am currently being monitored every 6 months. Thanks for your input.

I just had my 6 mo CT Scan and it did shrink the size of the large tumor. My tumors that have been biopsied were benign. I still have a few that might require additional treatment. The good thing is this can be done multiple times to different tumors. It's done by laparoscopy. Not very painful at all. I had my gallbladder out the same time so that was the worst of it.
I would do it again in a heart beat if necessary.
