I had a catheritization ablation procedure Feb. 2000. As a result I to have a frozen left lung. I have found very little info on this illness. Recently I attended a sleep lab and the therapist there had a hemi diapragham as a result of two thoracic surgeries. I have had cardiologists tell me my problem could not have been as a result of the procedure, but even if the risks are small, when it happens to you it's 100%.
I am swimming 3-4 times a week; very slowly and with 30 to 45 seconds between laps. This seems to help. Also I go to accupuncture once a week, a great help. I also keep up my sense of humour. Watch out for depression!
My brother calls me, Briggs and Stratton, one lunger.
I am trying a CPAP system for a month. After two weeks I am not satisfied that it is helping. This system blows air into your nostrils through a mask while you sleep. It is supposed to stop sleep apnea that can be exacerbated by a paralyised lung.
