I was officially diagnosed w/ "mild pcos" in december. At the time of my lab tests I was on ortho tri cyclen lo, and all my hormone levels came back normal. The doctors attributed this to the ortho. I had an ultrasound and they found approximately 22 cysts on each ovary.

Other then that, I have issues with weight and have never been able to lose a pound despite how hard i try. I do have some random dark hairs on my chin and stomach, and I have noticed that the hair on my arms have darkened over the past year. And I get really bad ovary pain and acne breakouts. But overall, I've been pretty lucky in my symptoms.

My doctor put me on diane35 and as of recently she said it's my decision as to whether or not I want to try spiro. Do you think spiro is necessary? As in, would the benefits (and what would those be) outweigh the side-effects? Any suggestions, or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not diagnosed with pcos (although I think I have a mild form of it), but I was on spiro for a while for acne and excess hair growth and it was amazing - no chin hairs the entire time I was on it, and I stopped retaining water, which was a miracle for me.

I had to get off it because I thought I was pregnant, and now that I'm not on it anymore I'm back to having tons of fluid retention in my ankles and abdomen, dark hairs growing on my face, etc, and more acne, mostly on my back. I don't want to go back on spiro til after I have kids, but once I'm done having them I plan to go back on it and never get off it!

How long were you on Spiro and what dosage? I know that is the sad thing about Spiro, once you stop, then it all comes back. You def. can't take it while pregnant
