Magnesium is in every cell of your body and 66% is in your bones so it is a needed mineral.

The Daily Recommended amount of magnesium is 400mg. It is best to get some from foods and the rest from a supplement.

I like and use chelated magnesium -- the type that is bonded to a protein amino acid. I think it is the best.

I also suggest that you get your blood tested periodically for magnesium. I read that 80% of people lack magnesium even though it is contained in many foods.

Taking a regular 400mg of Magnesium daily with a meal is good (oxide is the most recommended generally speaking)

if you notice more unpleasant blow movements try switching down to 250mg

It depends on whether the reason you want to take magnesium is for total general health or a specific ailment. If the former, then 250mg is sufficient in my opinion. I also believe Magnesium Citrate is a good choice.

As Harry mentioned, it is always good to get some from food.

Magnesium Glycinate was recommended to me by a health care professional,400 Mg, per day. Seems to be obtainable only through their practices. Anybody else try this?

I use a chelated magnesium that is bonded to a protein amino acid(glycinate). It is distributed by Carlson and Solgar vitamin companies as well as others online.
