My husband's family has been put through the mill since last Friday. My FIL was pre-diagnosed as having Pancreatic Cancer. 95% chance due to symptoms of severe jaundice, weight loss (15 lbs in 3 weeks), and high flucation numbers in his diabetes. Last Friday he had an ERCP and discovered what the doctor thought was a tumor blocking his bile duct. They could not reach the tumor but did scrapings. They put a stent in and he is feeling better, and not as jaundiced. Today results of scrapings came back negative for cancer, although the doctor had told in-laws that even if the scrapings came back negative there could still be a 70% chance of cancer. NOW the doctor is 2nd guessing himself and thinking maybe just a really weird gallstone or a huge fatty mass

While googling pancreatic cancer i ran across a message board on a website that mentioned autoimmune pancreitis and read where the symptoms are quite similar to PC.

FIL goes back in on Wednesday for another ERCP. They don't like to do biopsies unless they are sure it's cancer, due to risk of infection in Pancreas or Liver.

So now what? How will they get a definative answer - cancer or not?

Thanks.
