I typically feel a little tightness in my chest now and then. Most notably my ribcage aches a little. However, yesterday while enjoying a cigar I had some stronger pains in my chest. I'm not sure if it's an irritaion or maybe some stomach acid that is affected by the smoke. I'm an athlete, and I don't have any problems with breathing. What could that pain be?

Hi,
Any kind of chest pain should definitely be checked out by a doc. You cannot rule out the possibility of chest pain being heart related.
Yes, the pain could be related to your stomach, if it is epigastric pain and is underneath the diaphragm.
If you are an athlete, then you may have either broken a rib, or possibly more likely pulled some of the intercostal muscles that exist between your ribs.
Anyway, do please go and see your doc and take your chest pain very seriously.
Hope you soon feel better.
Take care

Hi,
Any chest pain should be checked out by a doc straight away as it could be heart related.
Yes, the pain could also be from your stomach if it is like indigestion pain and is in the epigastric region under the diaphragm.
If you are an athlete you may also have broken a rib or pulled the intercostal muscles between the ribs.
In any case, please go see your doc and let him check you out to rule out heart problems.
Hope you are feeling better soon.
