Hi all! I was hoping someone out there could relate to a concern I have been having. I would hate to pay 50 bucks for the Doc to tell me it is nothing to worry about. So here goes:

I seem to be digesting meals very quickly. I becoming concerned that by doing so, my body is not getting the proper nutrients. It started about 7 years ago when I had my gallbladder removed. I would have a BM right after a meal. I always chalked it down to the meal pushing the previous meal through (excuse the grossness ;))
However lately I have noticed the meal I eat is out via BM within a couple hours if not less. Example, today I ate a green leaf salad at 8:30 and by 9:30 it was out. Lettuce and all. I know it was this particular meal, as I had not had any lettuce in about a week.
I am getting a bit concerned that my body is not getting what it needs. Also I always feel VERY lethargic. Always tired.
Anyone else out there with any info? Thanks for reading, and sorry if I grossed you out.

I too have suffered rapid transit time after eating, have dealt with it for over 18 years....Have you thought about IBS....? that causes intense movement and any stress will make things move. I lost a fairly large amt of my small intestine years ago and I know i don't always get the nutrients I need, but I survive and yes, I'm tired, due to lack of B12, (p.s lettuce is nasty, I avoid it)

After having your gallbladder removed -- your bile is not controlled properly and when it enters your colon without being absorbed by your small intestines -- you will have a BM and it is frequently a loose stool.

About 5% of people that have their gallbladder removed have problems with this condition. It is treated by taking a presciption medication that absorbs the bile.

I suggest you go see a Gastro Doctor.

Thank you for your replies!
I didn't know lettuce was bad for ya. I always thought lettuce, salad, good.
I know about washing it and stuff.

Well I am glad that I am not the only one who has these symptoms, post gallbladder removal. I feel better knowing that maybe a prescription can fix the problem. Thank You!!!

Lettuce per se is not bad for you. Some people just have a hard time digesting roughage after gb removal. I did for a while but it's fine now.

The good news is that You have Irritable Bowel Syndrome ,I have the same problems, I went to a GI doctor and had all kinds of tests done, the bad news is that there isn't anything you can do about it, you can control it with probiotic and fiber, you should try and research it .
