Hi, I am recently dx'ed alhought suffering all my life and my doc put me on Vyvance 30mg to start, took it yesterfday, nothing, today, nothing...how long should I wait til I call and want to up the dose. I dont feel anything, good or bad. I am a little on the heavy side 240 thanks to Effexor XR and I am wondering if that has something to do with it!
I would appreciate any input!

Are you on Effexor and Vyvance?
I'm sitting here thinking whether it makes a difference.
Either way, how you feel is not the most reliable measure of whether an ADHD med is working. Tomorrow schedule whatever it is that is most difficult for you because of your ADHD and try doing it about 1.5 hours after taking Vyvance.
Ironically scheduling is one of most difficult for me. And one of the few I can't dump on anyone because of the nature of my work. I can schedule below the "feel" Adderall threshold. Vyvance and Adderall have the same active ingredient but because of other ingredients they behave quite differently. Still I think my "most difficult for ADHD" test remains valid.
What if test flops? Give it at least two weeks before ordering a bump up or change. Giving it time is giving your brain time to adjust.
The feel that you want from any ADHD med is the feel that comes from having control over your life. It feels dang good and is not the illusory drug produced sensation that quits after a few hours.
Patience is for me more difficult that scheduling. There is no way around it. Sorry if you are the same.
I'm not sure whether Effexor causes the munchies. SSRI's certainly do. Some people respond to mental distress by eating, others by loss of appetite. I think the ratio is for every 100 that pig out, 0.0000005 lose appetite. MI always produces worse case senarios. I think that is why it's called disorder/illness which I think means "not good."

I took Vyvanse as well and took it at the 70mg (or 75mg can't remember) dosage. I noticed a difference the first day I took it. Of course it didn't help enough so we switched to Adderall (which didn't help me at all) and then on to Concerta (which has been wonderful for me). My 6 year old son takes a half a 70mg capsule (we dissolve the powder in liquid and split that up equally among to days via a syringe we got from the pharmacy). I noticed a major difference in him as soon as he started taking it. If he doesn't have it he's completely out of control. I hope this helps. Good luck on your med journey, it can sometimes be a long one.

Thanks for the responses...I am on 75mg of Effexor XR, I maybe worded it wrong, I am not looking for a euphoric feel but a feeling of concentration and motivation along with the calmness that I need to make my mouth stop running 100 miles/min and my mind going faster. I dont feel mellow and I havent still havent been able to accompish anything....

Consider adding some counseling to your mix. CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) is my type pick. My pdoc just this past Monday (today is Thursday) ordered me back in the program because I've been "slip sliding away."

Thank you so much, I will speak with the dtr tomorrow. Originally, I was only seeing my PCP, he prescribed the meds Monday, now seeing that it will probably need to be upped,(also the fact that he told me that it can cause sedation and according to everything that I have seen the effect is quite the opposite) I have an appt with a Psychatrist (sp?) on the 20th. I may very well benefit from other therpay not only medication. My doc also kept me on the Effexor to help with anxiety, he was scared to take me off of it yet. We'll see what the other doc says, and let the PCP take care of minor things....
