Greetings!

I have my surgery on Friday however I was wondering if a catheter will be used?? I will have my period during the procedure and just wonder if this will be an issue.

Any information would be helpful!! Thank you

I haven't heard of catheterization being used for a routine gall bladder surgery. Your period won't make any difference, although it may be best to use pads rather than a tampon since you may be dopey and dozy for a few hours. Sera.

Nope. You're only out for about 40 minutes all told so you won't need a catheter. And unless your period is very heavy that day, you should be OK. I went under at exactly 6:55 AM and was calling my friend to come get me at 9 AM. If need be, you can always use two and you'll be pretty safe. You'll have to urinate for them before they'll let you leave the hospital anyway so you could always change then.
