honestly? the VERY BEST way to really find that out would be by seeing your primary doc for some bloodwork and follow that up with an ultrasound scan. these two things together really cover those bases well. bloodwork alone will never usually tell the whole true story of overall liver/organ health. there can just be certain things going on in anyones liver or any other organ for that matter that would simply not show in any lab changes til a certain level of real damage or function impairment gets hit. thats why getting that "look' inside really is needed to truely know.

as a quick example. i have lived with both a kidney/liver disease my entire life but never had a clue(til age 40) since all my bloodwork comes up within all normal limits, and still does despite having ALOT of very heavy cystic damage that is also increasing the actual size of both kidneys too. my normal fuctions in those two organs simply has not affected those actual functions yet to even show up in my bloodwork(but it will at some point). still freaks me out. but this is why you really just DO need both bloodwork and a scan, an ultrasound(pretty cheap compared to the other scans)really will show alot about how any given organ actually 'looks' inside. this really would give the best overall 'picture' of your liver if you feel something may be wrong with it. just make an appt with your primary to get that lab work started. good luck to you, and please do keep me posted. marcia
