Hello it is me AGAIN,
I had my appt at MD Anderson on Friday. Huge place. Not too happy with the MD I saw but will give them a try...... They found a 2nd spot on me and I had another biopsy done so I await those results......
Vulvar cancer is considered skin cancer. I am non HPV. I am being told I have Bowen's, Squamous Cell Carcinoma insitu Grade 3, VIN III. ughhhhhhhhhh
So everyone make sure you get a mirror and check yourself there......men also. This is a skin cancer men and women can get anywhere......there just is not any education about that is CAN be where the sun don't shine.
I have been so worried checking for melanoma's for years on my topical skin where I have been sunburned.....but never looking down there.
You have to ask your Doctor to look thoroughly when getting your pap and exam...

When my melanoma was discovered, I joked with the surgeon when he was checking in between my toes by telling him I'd never been sunburned there. He came back, extremely serious with, "Melanoma can strike anywhere it has a mind to, even in places where the sun has never seen." I started quizzing him on different places: "down there," inside of my mouth, etc. He said basically anywhere there is skin - and that is if there is a primary to be found, which sometimes there isn't. (And let's remember, there is ocular melanoma as well!) His words have always stuck with me, and my monthly skin checks always include a FULL body check. And thankfully, my dermatologist always gives a once over check as well.
It's always good to have the word spread, though. So thanks, for the reminder! I will continue to hope for the best for you! And hope that biopsy turns out to be nothing!

Thank you so much. I appreciate you. I am feeling pretty positive right now in spite of my sore you know what from the biopsy.... I will keep you all posted.
