HI
IVE HAD THIS INFECTION FOR THE LAST 3 MONTHS AND FIND IT VERY HARD TO SHIFT.
IVE TRIED EVERYTHING AND HAVE THE DOCTORS DRIVEN UP THE WALL.
THEY SAY THEY CAN DO NOTHING FOR A VIRAL INFECTION BUT THAT DOESNT HELP ME MUCH.
THE SYMPTOMS RANGE FROM SWOLLEN GLANDS, PAINS IN MY CHEST, PAINS IN MY NECK AND HEAD, AND GENERAL ACHES AND PAINS.
I ALSO SMOKE WHICH PROBABLY DOESNT HELP.
DOES ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE ANY INFO ON HOW TO GET RID OF THIS VIRUS OR DID ANYONE HAVE IT BEFORE.
PLEASE HELP BEFORE I GO INSANE.
THANKS IN ADVANCE.

I wish I could give you some real helpful advice,Mike. I started getting sick after this past Christmas, and I was sick for a full 3 months also; really close to 4 months. I was told I had a virus also...my lung volume was down below normal. I had continual chest pain...walking hurt; upper back pain...shortness of breath (even when sitting down for long periods). My lungs still aren't 100% better; but they are much better than they had been. I quit smoking when this started to happen to me...now my lung volume has gone way up....but I'll get chest pains off and on; and upper back pain now and then...and I had shortness of breath recently; though I'm better again. I just do what I can to be/stay healthy as I can.I exercise on a regular basis now; eat a healthy diet. Its all I can do. I hope you get better soon. It's so unreal, having a condition that goes on and on (and on). Reading your post, I sure could relate to what you're going through. I still don't know exactly what I had...that's kind of scary. Get better soon! Deb

it is annoying when the doctor tells you that you have a viral infection but he isnt sure.
it seemed as if it was the last option he had left for a diagnosis and inatead of sending me home with out a diagnosis he just said i had this.
it doesnt fill you with much confidence and especially that it is taking so long to clear maybe it is not a viral infecton but something else.
it seems that when i go to a doctor and as soon as i tell him ive had a viral infection for 2 or 3 months they automatically say theres nothing they can do.
take plenty of fluids and have plenty of rest.
not to sound ignorant or anything deb but it is reassuring to know that someone else has been sick for this long over something thats apparently trivial.

Hi, Miike. I sure can relate to your frustration! If you don't get better, I would go back to your doctor, push him/her to get some tests run. My doctor ran several tests on my lungs; then I saw a Pulmonary doctor. By the time I saw this Pulmonary doctor, I was starting to get better; but I wanted reasurrance that I didn't have something serious. In fact, when I was sick I posted on this board at least twice, and people here told me that a lung infection cannot last 3 months. So, I was freaked out by it, without a doubt. I was sure I had something serious. But your symptoms sounds like it could be viral. Its just a new idea to me; that a virus could last so long. Anyway, get better soon, Miike! Deb
