about 5 or 6 years ago i was smoking marijuana down my some railroad tracks. while holding in the smoke i past out, fell back and hit my head on a railroad rock. my friends said i was out for only a minute or two and when i came to i threw up. the whole walk home i kept on saying where is my car when i didnt have it. my ears rang the whole way home (about a 15 minute walk) wnd when i got home i went right to sleep because i didnt want my parents to know about it. i woke up the next day with the worst headache of my life to the point where i couldnt even turn my head with out being dizzy and throbbing pain. i had blood in my ears for 2 weeks and when i would turn my head i'd get the same sound as if i had water in my ears and was hacking up blood loogies for about a month aftterwards. i never went and got it checked out....should i be worried about long term effects??

That sounds pretty serious, but thank God you are ok now. Do you feel any different since that has happened than you used to? I know I used to make myself pass out and smoke dope and stuff too, and every time I would pass out by leaning over and then coming up while people pressed on my chest, I would start having convulsions. I was the only one in our group that did that. I don't know why. Later in life, I had a concussion from a skull fracture and was leaking cerebral spinal fluid and was in ICU....from a domestic dispute, but that's not important.....anyhow. I don't seem to have had any serious reprocussions from those events. I was even dropped on my head as a baby and had a skull fracture that swelled outward and had to be hospitalized. So that's three different occasions where I might have done some serious damage and I seem to be okay. I mean all they did was keep me in the hospital and monitor me. There wasn't anything they could do but sit and wait for the fracture to close up. The danger was being exposed to meningitis during that cerebral spinal leak, but after that, it was okay. I would definetely see a doctor if you start experiencing symptoms that you didn't have before, but other than that, and this is just my opinion from my personal experience, your body probably healed itself on it's own. Just try to take care from here on out. Good luck.

If this happened so long ago, is there some specific reason you're worried about it now? Are you having some kind of symptoms?

If not, I wouldn't worry about it. If nothing has happened after that many years, I don't think anything will.

On the other hand, if you are having symptoms, you should see a doctor. I understand you'd like to get some answers here, but what you're talking about is a physical problem that only a doctor who examines you could probably give you any useful information about.

If you have any concerns get checked out by a physician. Any neurological changes should be reported to the physician....The brain has a remarkable ability to heal itself, though.
