Just wanted to know if anyone else has had any experience with nodules, granulomas, in the lungs? My doc tells me that my chest x-rays shows lots of little nodules all over my lungs. He says it is not cancer, and is looking into other possibilities. Can he tell this just from a chest x-ray?
He can probably make an educated guess that it isn't cancer based on history and classic presentation of most cancerous tumors. IE, that they will hardly ever present as granulomas throughout the lung, and are usually concentrated in one area instead.
It could be a lot of things -- I hope for your sake it's something that can be treated and will go away.

Hi! Your doctor should rule out sarcoidosis and Wegeners, which is a rare form of vasculitis that attacks the lungs and the kidneys. If it is one of these things, you should definitely know about it.

Hi! I had nodules in my lungs from a severe lung infection - they just appeared on an x ray one day. I was on prednisone for 4 months, and I am happy to say they are now gone. My understanding was that my lung nodules were from the inflamation in my lungs. Good luck!

4 years ago a Lung doc told me I had a spot or nodule on the tip of the left lung. He told me I had smoked so many years, he could almost be sure it was cancer.
he had me so scared that we made the appointment right then to remove the " nodule" which turned out to be benign and would not have done anything.
This doc totally destroyed my life , as it was. I had never been sick, was very healthy but had , had pneumonia at one time and other docs later say this was probably scar tissue from the Pneumonia.
I wish I had listened. I am now 4 years after his surgery, then a Laminectomy to try and remove some " scar tissue" which made me worse and now am considered disabled and can do nothing. I will never trust a doc again, and knw there are good docs, but I seem to be drawn to the quacks.
They have experimented on me with numerous drugs for 4 years and none help the damaged nerves or scar tissue or whatever it is I have but am tired of living this kind of life.

I recently had a chest x-ray done as part of a total physical. Dr. asked me if I had pneumonia many times. I had pluerisy once that I know of. He said that each time you have bronchial/pneumonia it will leave little scars behind. That was a new one to me.
