I would like to talk to someone who is on Coumadin. I had mitral valve replacement 2 years ago, and will no doubt be on Coumadin for life. I also have been taking a very light dosage of Zanax, which is what I am thinking has caused me to gain about 15 lbs since my surgery.

My elderly mom lives next door, and I do lots of stuff for her, and am stressed a lot. I feel sometimes that I survived my surgery just to take care of her. I go to a message support board for that.

SO....I checked the Zanax side effects and one of them is weight gain. I was reading the Zanax website and saw a product called RELORA MAX which is made of phellodendron bark and magnolia bark.

It is primarily for anxiety relief, which is what the zanax is for, but not a drug per se, and also is proven to help with weight loss.

ANyone have any ideas? Input? Advice (I will not do anything without first talking to the Dr.)

I would love to stop taking the Zanax, anyway.

thanks.

I don't know how long you have been on the xanax, but do everything to get off of it if you have taken it for a number of months. I have been on it for 20 years and it is a life threatening medication for me. If I miss one, my blood pressure will spike to dangerous levels. Xanax had just been released by the FDA when I began taking it. It really helped, but the doctors kept increasing it. I now and for about 5 years take 3mg. The doctor told me to take more is necessarily. It did help, but don't stay on it to long. Also I would see if I could get titrated off of it. My mother had a stroke trying to get off of it. For me it's to late. I know you didn't want to hear this, but I am speaking the truth. Try something else. They tried anti-depressants on me and I became suicidal. I really didn't understand the severity of it until about two years ago. My doctor told me it was now a life threatening drug for me.
