Well for the past few months everytime I go to lay down to go to sleep my heart starts to pound like its going to jump out of my chest. I was told by several drs I have anxiety from recent issues in my life including the loss of my dad. I have been put on a very small dose of propranolol to try to control my rapid heart rates. I also was diagnosed with GERD which I control with aciphex.

Anyways this morning I was laying down trying to take a nap (I have to take sleep medication to sleep at night and last night wasn't a good one). I had my eyes closed and my heart was pounding as usual. All a sudden my heart did one REALLY hard pound and it jolted me, I felt like my breath was sucked out and like I would pass out. I jumped out of bed and called my mom just to be sure I was ok. Im a 26 yr old female with no health problems other then anxiety. I've had LOTS of testing done to rule everything out including blood tests and several EKGs (all normal). The only thing that came back low was my Vitamin D lvl and I am on supplements for that.

Has anyone had this happen?

I just posted a question very similar to this called "heart disease or what??" If you read it maybe you'll find some similarities because i know how you feel and have some anxiety lately from being bipolar. The heart pounding can hurt very bad at times and be very scary. Sometimes I'll just drive down to the hospital and sleep out there just in case, you know. As far as the latest episode you had, in my post i tell about something very similar that just happened to me. Hopefully we can get some answers to this from the professionals reading out there, it would be really appreciated.

Yeah I actually read your posts and they sounded very much like mine. I am feeling like I am losing my mind over this stuff. I talked to my dr again today and she wants me to keep taking Aciphex, upped my beta blocker to 20mg from 10 and prescribed me ativan to calm me (even tho I dont think it stems from anxiety). Every single dr I see says "Have they tested your thyroid, you have classic symptoms for that" and yes, they've tested it 3 times and say I am a poster child for what thyroid tests should look like on a normal thyroid. I honestly just really need an answer.
