Hello,
My husband had a VATS lung biopsy about 6 weeks ago. They diagnoised him with desquantmative interstitial pneumonia. He's on 40mg prednisone, however he is having pain by the incisions especially when he coughs. Sharp shooting pain. Doctors are saying its healing!! They gave him Tylenol 4. Chest x ray did't show any hole or bleeding. Anyone have a similar experience? The lung disease is not even noticeable as compared to this shooting pain. We appreciate your replys.

Hi,I had a VATS procedure also for a biopsy on my left lung on May 28th.I Too have a lot of pain still in the incision area and accross my chest from the left side to the center wher the 2nd chest tube was at.The Pulmologist told me yesterday that it takes nearly a year for the pain to go away after any thoracic surgery (surgery on the chest area)He said the chest area and the lungs are jam packed full of nerves.
I still have to prop the arm up at night on pillows and everything.
I know what he is feeling. ROSE

I am sorry your husband needed this procedure and of the diagnosis, it is a hard road to walk.

My husband had the same procedure and the incesion site alway bothered him. The intense pain subusided after a couple of months but it was always a little sore. Unfortunatly there is little they can do for the pain.

Good luck!
