Hi,
Have seen a rheumatologist for all my pains and have read the fibro books that have been recently published.....well the books seem to be all about me!
Does this ever get better? I have all 18 points that suggest fibro.
Have been prescribed muscle relaxers and anxiety med but very low dose and lyrica. Have Tramadol but it dosent help the bad flare ups.
I am an A personality and had intense neck surgery C2-C7 in 2006 called a laminoplasty and just retired from a very stressful AF career. I fought the diagnolsis until I did all the research but now understand I have this condition.
Is there anything else out there med wize that would help?
Wake up every morn very stifff and with pain as well as fatigue (although I sleep most of the night) and also have HA's. Thanks for any help.

Welcome KathyKK
It sounds like you are reading and getting educated with having fibromyalgia. Not the same works to ease the pain for everyone. As my Rheumy has said i need to educate myself to what works for me, my rheumy highly recommends water therapy. A warm pool of water can ease aches. i've learned not to fight the fatigue, rest when you need to.
Welcome again and many here will give you many helpful ways they cope with Fibro.

hi kathy,
it doesn't really get better, it just gets easier to do. give yourself time to adapt. water therapy was a lifesaver for me. i did it for 2 years. exercise is my key to staying as pain free as possible. i never found any pills that help. i have been at this for 14 years.
changing my way of life helped so much. dumped all the people who were stressful, went vegetarian and organic, and got rid of that nasty wheelchair.
i guess i just got used to being in pain all the time. funny thing, when i had to say bye bye to all my upper teeth and hello to falsies i realized just how adaptable the human body is. i can eat corn on the cob and i can kayak, giggle, not at the same time tho. giggle.
it takes time to find your balance. have patience and be persistant. welcome.
peace,
bluelakelady

Welcome Kathykk,
Med wise it is a personal search to what works the best for you. I like to do as little prescription meds as possible and if I have to take something I let it help me while I find a better way and then take myself off that med. I find that exercise helps the best, eating healthy and staying away from sugar as much as possible and I have put together a vitamin regimen I like. The thing with the vitamins is I sometimes get in a bad groove where I don't take them regularly but when I am on my game, I really think they help a lot.
You will have those bad days and days the fatigue takes over. Let your body tell you what it needs and rest when it tells you. Like blue says you will get use to your life and learn that it is what it is and you can have a great life even with fibro. I will say that if you haven't checked out your thyroid and learned about getting your thyroid in the right numbers for you, it is worth the effort. Taking care of my thyroid helped my fatigue quite a bit.
