Assuming you are concerned about its effect on blood cholesterol, avoid any margarine that has any hydrogenated oil in it (trans-fats in hydrogenated oils raise LDL levels and lower HDL levels). Also, many margarines (particularly harder stick margarines) use a lot of highly saturated coconut or palm oil (saturated fats also raise LDL levels).

A handy hint to ID Cholestrol,which I read and use is; HDL is the "Healthy" kind,
and LDL is the "Lousy" kind. Bill
