I just watched a program on one of the health and fine living networks about milk and honey. It really got my attention because they touted amazing health benefits from drinking raw milk instead of the pasturized milk we get at the grocery. I was astonished to discover from this that it is illegal to sell raw milk in about 22 states. A farmer could go to jail! But, apparently there are some really wonderful nutrients and pro-biotics that pasturization destroys, and this young mother on the show was trying to get the law revoked in her state (Maryland I believe) to give people the "choice" of raw or pasturized. The show talked about some really amazing results for osteoperosis, stomache problems, allergies, and others. Wonder if it would help "us"?
I was wondering if anyone here is using raw milk/honey, and if it is helping your fibro symptoms.

There are no proven benefits to drinking raw milk, and many people develop campylobacter and other forms of food poisoning after drinking it.
If you live on a farm, and drink the milk of your own cow (or sheep or goat!), that's one thing. You might get sick the first time you try it, after that you're probably safe. But if you are buying it in a store, it could be from a different source every time, and you'd be running the same risk with every container.

We lived in England many years ago and received fresh milk right at our door, would have an inch or more of cream on top ---- I never gain weight in England with Real Milk, butter etc.
Pasteurizing our milk take all the nutrients out of it.
there are several places in TX that sell the Raw milk and I believe you can find it on line.
All the process that is done to our food is really bad for us.
In looking at diets for liver health it says to eat only fresh fruits and veggies limit meat. (which most of our meat is filled antibiotics)
You can also buy organic meat.

Donna,
I think that milk really was pasteurized. It just wasn't homogenized.

Thankx for all the replies. I did more research on this and though I couldn't find any references to health benifits for Fibro sufferers... it does seem to help with pain symptoms for some. Another thing I had not mentioned earlier is that these benifits come from milk from "grass fed" cows. The cows that have an all grass diet produce milk with antiseptic or antibiotic properties. Grain fed cows do not produce this, therefore the only raw milk recomended by these folks is from grass fed only. It's very interesting. And the raw honey has similar antibiotic properties. Eating raw honey from local bees can help boost your immunity to baddies that are common in your environment.
