how to taper off lexapro 2 weeks of being on lexapro 10mg

Hey Dot,
I was taking Lexapro 10MG for a while and decided to taper by doing the following.
5MG for 2 weeks
2.5MG for 2 weeks
But honestly after doing this didnt really help with the withdrawls. Now my hearing is very sensitive and I have been dealing with some motion sickness for about three weeks now. I think I have vertigo.
My doctor told me to taper off by 1 week 2 weeks at 5mg then quit but I wouldnt advice that.
I might have to get back on the med at 5mg then taper off until I am at 1mg for a month. This medication is very brutal!

thanks for your response. could you tell me how long you had been on lexapro? my husband is the one on the medication - he had colon surgery 6 weeks ago - he developed tinnitus in the hospital which has only worsened. that's when he decided to start the lexapro - 12 days ago. he started with 2 days at 5mg and now 10days at 10mg... he want's off!! he has just weaned himself off tramadol (a pain med) he's been depressed since the surgery.
a friend just came by and told me he'd been on prosac 2 months and just cold turkied to quit...
