I have very dry skin, and I can't find a base that doesn't make my face look cracked, and extremely aged. Can anyone help me out here?

Really tired of wasting money on makeup that doesn't work. Thanks:wave:

I used to have the same problem. Mineral makeup has really helped. I was hesitant to try them because using regular powder over my foundation was just a mess of cracked, flaky skin and makeup.

I've tried many brands. My favorites are Everyday Mineral and Bare Minerals. My least favorites have been all the drugstore brands I've tried and Sheer Minerals. I keep hoping to find a drugstore brand that works, is affordable, and convenient to buy. Definitely stay away from the ones that contain talc. I think talc is irritating and drying. At least for me.

Everyday Minerals at least offers free samples if you pay the postage, which if I recall was about $5. It's been a few years since I've done that, so it may be more now.

I like creamy cleansers rather than liquids. A few years ago I tried (I may get the name a little wrong) the Vanilla Meltdown, the Mandarin Meltdown, and the Peony Meltdown in the Signature A line from HSN. They came with sets. I didn't like the Peony only because of the scent. (I have fragrance sensitivities and MANY products give me migraines or trigger allergies and asthma attacks.) I really liked the Mandarin and the Vanilla. A few months ago (during an attack of winter skin) after using product after product that I didn't like, I decided to order some more Meltdown from HSN. The Mandarin wasn't available. I order 2 containers of Vanilla and 2 containers of Swiss Chocolate (?). Oh my! The Chocolate smells like chocolate mousse. It seems such a waste to put it on my face rather than eat it! These products were buy one, get one free, otherwise, I don't normally spend that much on face wash. It's very creamy, it removes my waterproof mascara, and my face feels moisturized after using it. You put it all over your face, wait 10 seconds for the "meltdown" and then I use a washcloth to rub a bit then rinse.

In the warm months, I do like the oil of olay and the dove face cloths. I just don't like them for my drier winter skin.

After cleansing, I use an alcohol free toner or witch hazel. Currently I'm using Thayer's Peach witch hazel. Even though witch hazel has a bit of alcohol in it, it doesn't seem to dry my skin at all. The peach also has vitamin C and aloe, which are good for skin.

Hey ! Im new to this forum and Wanted to give an input to this, i study beauty therapy so looking after my skin is crucial to giving a good impression to a client, I suffer with really dry skin and find that the brand 'Dermalogica' Is very good for dry skin, although . yes i do pay i think £24 For a moisturiser, but i find it incredibly worth it, and ive had one bottle which has lasted me since around december. if your interested then you can purchase dermalogica kits on ebay for a smaller price, but i use intensive moisture balance, i always put this on when i get up and before applying makeup, (wait for it to soke in) when i remove my makeup and when i go to bed, it is a brilliant base for foundation, but being dry skinned i have spent so much money on finding a right foundation, but i find that rimmel 16Hr liquid foundation amazing and Its only £5, i think apply a small amount of translucent powder ontop, any i find this lasts me all day !
Simple Moisturiser is also a brilliant product and is only £2-3 From Boots/Superdrug.

for flakey, tight skin always cleanse with the right type of cleanser, i either use dermalogica or Simple, which is very cheap, £2 I think ? And Exfoliate your skin, to remove the flakey skin, As I have excessive dry skin, I exfoliate atlest 3 - 4 times a week, and takes about minutes to do at home, keeping this in your rountine will help dryness, My Skin has never been in better condition :)

Hope I Helped
