Hi all,

I only get my period about every 60+ days or so. This is normal for me. I have talked to my gyno and she said that I should have at least 4 periods a year and that if I don't I should have my period induced. Well it is past the 70 day mark and no period. FYI I am NOT sexually active so there is no chance of me being pregnant.

How is a period induced? Are there any natural methods for inducing a period? I do have a prescription for yaz but I am reluctant to try it since I had severe side effects last time I was on BC (cryselle). Can yaz be used to induce a period without going on it permanently (or for a few months)?. I mean if I took it for a week would it help induce a period?

I have been to see the Dr about this and she wasn't overly concerned. She said I was in good health and this sort of thing sometimes occurs in athletes like me.

Any advice would be appreciated.

She is right concerning athletes--however, you do not seem comfortable with the bc pill concept, given the fact that you have had issues with a previous type. My suggestion would be to make another appointment to discuss ALL of your options. The first question should be WHY did she choose the particular birth control pill that she did? What is the benefit to taking this pill vs other birth control pill brands? There are a lot of birth control pills on the market and because one gave you a problem does not mean that they will all give you a problem. I would also ask her what other options are available to you that do not include taking the birth control pill? I do not think there are other options, however, it certainly could not hurt to ask the question.
I hope I gave you something to think about.
