My mother has Lupus in the skin. She takes prednisone occasionally (when the Lupus is worst), but tries to keep away from medication as she think it is going to destroy her body eventually. She eats a lot of alternative medicine, including anti-oxidants.
Unfortunalety she has lost a lot of her hair, it looks thin and unhealthy. (She do color it, can that be part of the problem?)
Does anybody know of any alternative or traditionel medicine (with no side effects, she wont take it, if it has any)that can help her get some of her hair back?
Thanks in advance

Hi Katrine,
After years of problems and of and on again hair loss. A pharmacist friend suggested to me to take a good multiple vitamin, Maxi B Complex vitamins and of course calcium. I have been taking for 2-3 years now and my hair has been feeling a lot thicker than it ever has. I hope this helps.. but, it takes time to see the results... good luck.

Hi, I've had good results from taking Colostrum lozenges. I get them at my local health-food store. I've been taking them about 8 months now and my hair is growing back, my nails are stronger than ever and I feel better in general. Of course I combine this with good nutrition, and lots of organic based calcium/magnesium and B vitamins.
Hi Katrine,
You mom is very fortunate to have you on her team= caring family makes all of this so much easier to bear.
I can only offer that a new book I've been reading (comprehensive and recently updated)
"The Lupus Book" cautions against taking ANY thing with alfalfa in it.
I knew that we were to avoid alfalfa sprouts because of a reaction, but this also caused me to look to my vitamins, etc.
The hair loss is part of the symptoms and it is sooo unfortunate. The skin stuff is bad enough!
You might go to the old board and review past posts or see if you can get into yahoo's egroups and cruise thru rockingbabes-
their posts may share some insight.
Keep encouraging her and finding the humor in this- it's there, it's just hard to find some days.
