Hi!

Has anyone with unexplained breast pains ever gotten an answer out of it? I have been dealing with it for 4 1/2 years, and have had numerous ultrasounds, exams, mammos, etc. Today I had a Breast Specific Gamma Imaging test done.

The radiologist came into the room after he looked at all the images, and told me he still has no explanation for my pains, showed me one little area on the left breast picture that is darker, and said if it was cancer, it would be black. He said my breasts are denser on the bottom, and that this is just density.

I don't know why I don't feel comfortable with that explanation. I am seeing him tomorrow for a consult. Today I said, "so you don't think that area is anything to worry about, and he said no." But I still left there feeling confused.

Any thoughts!?
thanks!

Stop worrying! You've had every test and everything is normal :). Pain and tenderness are normal with hormone fluctuations and too much caffeine. Cut back on the caffeine and stop stressing. :D

A couple of other considerations:

I am unsure of your age, but it could deal with your menstrual cycle/hormones if you still have your ovaries.

Another could be costocondroitis. This is essentially rib pain that feels like breast pain.

I have experienced both types and now that I don't get my periods, I only have pain due to rib cartilage inflammation. My condition is closely associated with costocondroitis, it is called Tieze's Syndrome, which is inflammation of the connective tissue of the rib bones. It hurts bad. It also causes me to have trouble breathing due to my lungs being sort of constricted.

I hope you get well soon.

I am 38, but had a hysterectomy, so no more periods (best thing ever!) I have health anxiety to an extent as well. I am going for my 3rd mamo on Friday as I have another lump. Wish me luck.

Everything went well. My original lump hasn't grown or changed size and my new one is only breast tissue that is lumpy. So, I didn't even need a biopsy just had a mamo and ultrasound and sent home ok. See? I kept worrying down to a minimum and it was ok. If it wasn't ok, at least I didn't have a week of anxiety before-so try not to freak out. I appreciate your caring. Best wishes, Julie
