My doctor said I tested positive for HPV but just wants to do another test in three months. She did not seem concerned. Should I be worried about transmitting this to my boyfriend.

Was this diagnosis related to your Pap or was the HPV test done on its own? If related to your Pap, then you pap would have shown low grade changes so despite a positive HPV result which I'm assuming this is what you have though you didn't say (most people don't seem to know if they have high or low risk HPV). Three months is fine to do a repeat Pap. If changes have increased then a colposcopy would be done and perhaps even a biopsy. You ALWAYS have to be concerned about transmitting HPV, after all it's a sexually transmitted disease and this goes for oral sex as well. Asymptomatic transmission (which is how we get it from men since they rarely show symptoms of high risk HPV if they show symptoms at all it is usually for low risk HPV (genital warts).
