Any mole that is itching should be examined by a doctor. Call a dermatologist or a reputable surgeon.

Yes, an itching mole or unusual spot or new growth that itches should be checked. You may need to request to have it removed just to be safe even if the Doctor thinks it is okay. Make sure they send it to Pathology
