Hi
I really don't think there is a definitive answer to this question - "how long is a piece of string?". I have just had 4 LAD stents inserted - 1 for 99% blockage and 3 75% blockages. restenosis rates are greatly reduced by the modern drug eluting stents (which I have been given), although the downside is that I must remain in Plavix for the rest of my life to avoid thrombosis. My cardiologist suggested likeliehood of restenosis was increased because of sheer number of stents put in. Research suggests bare metal stents restenose at about 20 -30% rate within a year and drug eluting stents around 10%.
Hope this helps
Johnny
