This has happened to me a few times, but it doesn't happen often at all.

Last night I was reading this trivia site "Did You Know?" (love random trivia), and in the middle of reading one of the facts, I heard 3 different voices go "Lithium" one after another.

Not sure what to make of this, but it worried me...I really only noticed it after they said that. It just sounded so real, it was creepy :\ . I'm not sure what to make of this....what do you guys think?

If you continue to hear a or many voices then I'd say talk to a psychiatrist about it.

You heard them in your head or like someone was actually talking aloud?

It sounded like it was talking aloud; coming from my ear. I know no one was there talking, and I know in reality that it's in my mind, but it sounded like someone was actually talking aloud.

You should discuss it with a psychiatrist or psychologist. It may not be anything really, but you need peace of mind. You are aware of that nobody was talking and that is a good sign. Are you under a lot of stress at the moment? I bet that stress can cause it. I've had a lot of strange things happen while under a lot of stress. By the way, why lithium? Do you take lithium or do you feel that you need to take it?

You have to understand that I'm a psych major, so I know about delusional issues, as well as schizophrenia, and any other major mental health disorder.

I have had these voices before (like hearing my friends say phrases in my ear), and at the time of getting the voices last night, I wasn't under stress (I was relieving it by reading).

I am not on lithium, and have only heard about it, and don't think I need it (it's an unhealthy med that can destroy the kidneys). I'm just getting more and more fearful of getting worse.

My main concern is that I match many schizoaffective symptoms and I'm at the age where these things typically start (18). I do not diagnose myself because of all of the mental disorders I currently have, which may lead me to believe these things (not to mention my delusional thinking).

These damn voices sounded like they were in my ear, not my head, and that's what concerns me the most.

You say that you are a psych major. Do you think that may have something to do with the voices? I am not saying it does, I am just wondering.
My sister is a medical doctor. When she was in medical school she felt that she had several of the diseases she was studying. To her this was so real that she subjected herself to some very painful treatments. She has also had ex rays that she didn't need and some very intrusive medical examinations. Nobody could convince her that she is healthy.
I am not familiar with schizophrenia. I know what it is, but don't know much about it. I was under the impression that a person who is schizophrenic really believes that the voices are there and you seem aware that it is not real.

It's not just the voices...I don't look at those when I think of this.

It's the fact that I show delusion...and have for a while now. I just picked up on these symptoms that I have had for years.

Well, I don't know a lot about this, but what you're talking about is not voices in your head, but having hallucinations. That's the kind of thing you need to get checked out.

Everyone has "voices in their head" to some extent, but hearing auditory hallucinations is totally different.

Just wondering, you didn't happen to be on any drugs at the time, did you? If so, that's probably the explanation. If not, I'd absolutely tell your doctor about this, especially as you say this isn't the first time it's happened to you.

I've never done drugs nor drank (alcoholism in my family and my dad smokes cigarettes and I think they're disgusting).

Hi Swamp,
Some people are more sensitive about sensing others energies. It comes in different forms. Hearing is only one form of this. When your mind is use to hearing from your ears, then if it comes from within or from others then it may sound as if they are right next to you or behind you. Some confuse this with having to be mentally imbalanced or under the influence of drugs. Some people take drugs to stop the noise.

Sorry. I was trying to say some of us do sense and hear others. Some don't like the noise and try to stop it.

Oh, ok :p . Thing is, I rarely hear or see things...it's more paranoia and delusion that I experience.
