Did they make any of you get a biopsy for lupus? Particularly on your face called a punch biopsy.

Hi EMT,
I have recurring mouth sores (always on inside of mouth)and the ENT doc wants to do one next time I
get a good batch. I get a good batch quite often, actually, but for
varying reasons, we've not been able to do the biopsy yet. Also before
lupus was suspected, I had strange "bumps", mainly on my arms. My
family doc did a punch biopsy for cancer then sent me to a dermatologist
who did the same thing on another one. Both came back benign; I suspect
now that they were part of some lupus skin problem. Too bad it wasn't
picked up then.
If you've never had one, it is sort of like it sounds. They give you a
numbing agent at the site and then use an instrument like the sharp
round thing on a single hole paper-puncher to get a small, roundish
sample. Doesn't hurt, but sort of made me sqeamish to watch--I wouldn't recommend it! Afterward, one doc used some sort of tape and the other a stitch or two. The only bad thind is I had them done almost a year ago and there are still scars--BUT I always scar pretty bad, even with a small knick. (I wonder if that is part of the "plague", too...)
Anyway, Good Luck! DeeDee
PS Really like your quote at end of post. So true...
Actually I did have one. Tomorrow I get the stitches taken out from it as a matter of fact. Your right there was nothing to it. I just wanted to see if anyone else had to have it done. It turns out that they were testing me for photosensitivity since they already knew I had lupus.
Thanks good luck on yours
