Hi,
I am a tad bit furious... as if it wasn't bad enough that I was listening to a talk show this afternoon and a caller called in and had HSV2 ( I caught the last end of the segment) but when the call was over the host was like "Herpes is bad for those of us that don't have it.. I cant imagine being wild in my 20's and then in my 40's just getting Herpes"

That irritated the heck out of me.. for the simple fact that I am sure there are many people out there like that person who think that way and because they never got tested they could possibly have Herpes but will swear they dont. It is said that an estimated 90% of infected people have no idea they have it and it doesnt help that the IgG type specific herpes blood test is not part of the routine STD panel when you request to be tested for STDs from your doctor.

But any who.. what made me more furious was a Trojan ad that i heard... it was something along the lines "before condoms... the girl is thanking the guy for giving her HSV2 and said something like I dont know what I would have done with out you" kinda making it seem that if you use a condom you will not be able to get herpes.. I personally feel that this is misleading.. I can understand an ad like that for other STD's (since they are primarily transmitted through the fluids) but you can still get herpes even when using a condom.. yes I do know that condoms arent 100% but the risk is still higher in catching herpes then another std while using a condom..

Now how weird is this.. I was trying to find a number to call trojan but am having a hard time finding one..how crazy is that.. I dont think i am looking in the right place..

Well this was just a little rant.. if anyone has any opinions on this please feel free to share so that I do not think I am a nut for feeling this way haha :dizzy:;):)

So randomly scrolling through the posts I just found this one, and I totally agree. The other thing that drives me crazy is the Valtrex commercial on TV. Like, a lot of people have it I understand that and I understand the promotional aspect for the company, but it may be the most embarrassing commercial EVER when you have recently told your significant other you have it, and then you end up in a group watching tv when it comes on. Not to mention someone ALWAYS says something, "I'm glad I don't have that!". UGH! Really, I have found SO MANY people who have absolutely no idea what genital herpes really is. I hate the stigmas it carries!!!!
