Has anyone here taken Abilify (for any condition)? If you did take Abilify, how long did it take for the medicine to work for you (assuming that it did help your condition)? I have depersonalization, well, really derealization disorder and have just started Abilify. I've been on 2.5 mg for 3 weeks now and just took my first 5 mg pill last night. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I have my account set up so you can personally email me with any responses. Thanks!! :)

I have been on Abilify for several months for bipolar disorder. It has seemed to help me quite a bit, to take the "edge" off of me and irritation. The doctor reduced my dose because of a side effect and I haven't had as good a result, I prefer to have the side effect.

Meds usually take 6-8 weeks before they are absorbed in the bloodstream.

Aside from that, each person is different. While one person may react instantaneously to a med, another person may not.

I'm taking Fluoxetine (Prozac) for bipolar depression. It took 8 weeks before I noticed a positive change in my mood, but I know others who experienced a difference immediately.

As the saying goes, "Your mileage may vary."
