I'm a 30 year old woman & had an encounter with someone going through a herpes outbreak around 3 weeks ago. Oral sex was as far as the contact got.
a week ago i started experiencing mild itching... and have had that ever since.
I went to see a doctor that gave me a vaginal swab, tested for fungus & came back with nothing. She says it might be an allergy.
I have no visible sores but am always aware of that area and jump at the slightest itch or discomfort.
Could this be herpes and if so how can i get tested?

Do you know if they had oral herpes/cold sores? If so, this can be transmitted to your genitals even when there is no outbreak present. Since this may be a new infection you can get tested via blood test (IgG type specific) but if the results come back negative or low positive you should wait 3-4 months and get retested so your body has enough time to build up the antibodies needed to be detected if you do indeed have herpes. :)

By going on what happened to me...i got HSV1 down there through oral...its possible.
I felt sore before my outbreak...i just thought i was sore from sex but it got worse each day and then eventually it got too much to bare...it hurt to pee or do anything.
I saw my doc and she knew already what i had but she swabbed it to kno what type.
Maybe she needs to test it for herpes and not fungus?
I really hope you don't have it tho...good luck!
