I am a widow and I have HPV. I met a man a few months ago and I am ready to take the relationship to a sexual level. How will this affect my partner?

Do you know if you have high risk or low risk HPV?

Any genital skin to genital skin contact can transfer the virus. The good news is that most people do not suffer from negative effects of HPV (low risk or high risk). Most people who have been sexually active (not just sexual intercourse) with more than one person (during his/her lifetime) have most likely been exposed to HPV. It is VERY common.

The fact is that sexual contact with this man will most likely expose him to whatever strain(s) of HPV you might have. It will also expose you to any strain(s) of HPV which he might have (assuming he might have one).

Hope that helps.
