A few months ago I noticed a red spot towards the top of my hairline (pubic). There was a small bump under the skin and it appeared to be an ingrown hair. It was red around this area to the size of a dime. It eventually went almost completely away. Last week I noticed that it has come back. It isn't sore and right in the middle almost looks a bluish tint. I tried pulling out any hairs that I saw in this area but so far it's still there. I'm assuming that it will go away like before but I'm wondering if I should be worried? :(

I find this common amongst people who opt for shaving as a form of hair removal.
A lot of my girlfriends talk of similar situations.

I dont think it is anything to worry about but if it does get painful and puss is present it could mean an infection. Still nothing to worry about but if gets worse might want to get it checked out.

Otherwise exfoliating could help In order to remove dead skin cells to prevent ingrowns.

Im not sure if you've heard of a "below pants facial". A new concept, a rather odd concept personally, it is literally a facial for your nether regions.

They cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise your privates to reduce and prevent the occurance of ingrowns.

I'm not sure if you will be willing to go that far but thats something to think about.. You could try something similar but more D-I-Y?

Hope I helped :)

I do appreciate your reply. One thing that I neglected to note is that I don't shave this area. This "bump" is at the top part of my hairline so it's up kinda high.

Anyone else have a problem like this. I thought that it was an ingrown hair but it isn't in an area where you would shave (I don't) it's too high for that. I know that you can have ingrown hairs without shaving though. This is the second time that it has come back in the same place. It isn't really painful. Appreciate any advice. I'm a 60 yr old, married 36 yrs. and no chance of herpes or anything similar.

I get lots of ingrown hairs, even where I don't shave sometimes. I agree exfoliating is the best option. Keep something in the shower to scrub it with, such as a scratchy sponge or something and give it a good scrub every day or even every few days. Helps a lot. And yes, as long as it's not getting really full of puss or anything, it's nothing to worry about. I've even had them grow just under the skin without problem. Either you cut a little spot and pull them out or you can just leave it if it's not bothering you, and it will eventually dissolve.
