I have seen a number of posts here slamming the use of RYR, a product I have used with great success. Since lovastatin is no longer an ingredient in RYR, what is the issue against it? I know one person posted that since it no longer contained lovastatin it was useless, but it lowered my LDL in just 3 weeks.

Monacolin K (synthetic copy being..... lovastatin) is not the sole active molecule of RYR to act in inhibiting the production of HMG-CoA within the liver.

Sorry, I have no idea what this means.

I still take it, a product called CholesteRice. It also contains CoQ10, Policosanol, Pantethine & Plant Sterols. The RYR is 600 mg. in 2 capsules. I take the 2 capsules once a day.

Sorry, I have no idea what this means.

Basically, the previous poster is saying that even if the naturally occurring monacolin-K (= lovastatin) is removed from the red yeast rice, there are other substances in it that have statin-like effects.

Okay, thanks for the interpretation. I would have to know exactly what those substances are and their amounts. I feel nothing adverse from taking this product and it is lowering my LDL significantly so I will continue until I hear something that gives me pause.
