I live alone, and I do most of my work out of the home as a freelance designer. I also work part time as a waiter. I recently lost the waiting job due to the economy, but after nearly a month of being out of work, I find myself deeply involved in things I had enjoyed, but never really considered important.
I enjoy TV, movies and books, but now I find my almost addicted to them, but only if they involve relationships in detail. Friendships, romances, sibling things, etc. I found myself sitting through 13 episodes of The Nanny, just because I was really enjoying the developing relationship between the two leads. This not normal behavior for me, and I'm wondering if the loss of a very social part of my life in the restaurant is causing me to seek out whatever social interaction I can?
I'm brand new here, so please be nice if you think my post is stupid.

Welcome Castleman,
Nice to have you here. I do not think your post is stupid. I know what your talking about. I find as us guys get older, we mellow more. We start to see the things that the ladies have seen all along. We feel more emotions also, which makes you feel more alive. Take what you have learned, look around and see if you can find some way to interact with others. Enjoy.

So getting more into these things and, well, feeling more emotion is a normal thing? The example is the show I was watching, when it was on TV the first time, I enjoyed it because it was funny, well written and Fran Drescher's not hard to look at, but now I found myself getting kind of choked up when he finally proposes to her. Same thing with a lot of other stuff, cripes, even a comic book that had a big emotional development in the story got me choked up! So this is all a reasonably normal development in ageing?

It depends on the individual of course. Yes you will find that when you watch movies that you saw before, you missed half of what it was really about. My wife even bought me a copy of "City Of Angels" for Christmas, but watch the ending. Enjoy.
