Hi buddies, i have been seeing a PM dr.as some of you know and i had an appt. yesterday ,I have been seeing a pain specialist for the last few months and trial error medications and injections. The list goes on... I am wondering if there are others here that can try to help me out? My pm dr. just did and SI injection yesterday, we have tried all the biggies and there was talk of a RHizotomy and then a simulater type pain reliever being installed, sorry this is going to be kinda long. Anyway, when i had the injection yesterday he said he wants to cover all bases that is if it's something bigger okay but he wants to cover anything that could be minor, in wich i totally agree, i dont want something extreme if it doesn't need to be right! So he was going to do an injection in my Piriformis muscle? I have read up some on this and it could be something so easy compared anything else. He was going to inject but i had my son with me so i have to go back next week to have that one done! I can only hope it is something as easy! I was taken off of Methadon to go back on what i told him helped alot more in the past. I don't understand why i am so tolerant of pain meds, and alot of other meds. He said he knows i dont want to be on them although hes a dr. and has to worry because of others abuse of them and i let him know if hes on to something with these injections i toally agree to not having a pain pump put in. I feel that i am so young and i dont and cant be on taking a chance on being zombied out because i have a family to care for. And for the last month i just tuffed it out because nothing seems to be helping when i get the worst. Like last weekend i was down on the couch except for taking my kids a few places and there i was laying on the couch all day and night suffering but someof this is my own fault i know. I could go to the er or call the dr. but i seem to have this big problem being a tough girl. I was watching music videos this am to my favorite song and i got all sad thinking about how i liked to dance and go out and i do go out but not to do that sort of thing. I just wondered what anyone elses outlook and experiences are with injections and such?
Thanks, monkey

Hey Monkey-
The only types of injections I've had are steriod (knee) and then trigger point (knee, back, hips, legs) so I can't give you any kind of insight on the type you are discussing with your doctor.

I'm sorry I can't help, but I did want you to know I understand your concern, and I can totally relate to missing being able to dance. I used to LOVE to dance and spent a lot of time dancing both while going out, and just at home for the exercise ya know? The last time I attempted to dance, it was at my cousin's wedding, and they were doing the stroll. Well, it was my turn to "stroll" through the line and my knee totally gave out and I landed flat on my face. How embarassing (wearing a dress) and most of all, PAINFUL! I figured since it was just the stroll, all I would be doing was basically walking to the beat of the music- well I learned my lesson. Only slow dances in small doses for me from now on and I too am young. Well, if you consider 40 young, I sure as heck do!!

Anyway, sorry I rambled, but just wanted to let you know we are here for you. I'm sure someone will chime in with useful information.

Take care!

ozzbug, thanks a bunch for the kind words! I am probably going to have to call the pm dr. I don't know what the injection did but anytime, and i mean anytime i bend over it pinches and it so hard to walk. I believe and feel he irritated the nerve that is the culprit and maybe possibly when he injects my piriformis muscle area i might get relief!I'm sorry you fell. i have been resorting to using my cane most of the day and feel stupid i can;t walk right but i will live, i will get through this i know! Take care, monkey
