This is something else my new PM doc recommended today; have any of you tried this device? Experience has taught me that the gal in the PM office who reps this device (and others) is ALL about getting you/your insurance to buy from them, and buy on-the-spot. Knowing this, I told her today I would think about it and let the doctor know next time I'm in, which was NOT the response she wanted.

She had me try the ProNex today and it did absolutely nothing except give me a screaming headache; I did not experience any relief from the compression, but just laid there squeezing a ball to pump the thing up. The only type of traction that has truly helped is the device that hangs over the door and you use it standing up. The ProNex seems like it wouldn't do anything that a cervical pillow won't do, but I could be wrong!

Please let me know if you can recommend this or any other cervical traction device.

Thanks much,
NancyJo

I've been using one of these for a couple of years now. It takes a few days for it to have a noticible effect. I have to use it every day or I have problems. As long as I do that I don't get those awful headaches. If it gave you a headache it may have been overinflated, I had to increase how much it's inflated gradually. The PT that I got it from set it up for me to rent it for a month to see if it worked, the rent was about $10 and the insurance paid all of it. It was my understanding that the 1 month deal was standard so you may want to as about that. I think part of the reason it works for me is that a lot of my problems are muscular even though I have DDD, bone spurring, and arthritis in my neck too the muscle problems are worse. It helps keep those muscles from getting to tight.

Thanks, tigg. I searched online today and found the over-the-door traction device that I've used in the past for $35, so I might just order that b/c it always worked well. I appreciate your input!!!
