oh my gosh are you serious? Demerol is SO much stronger. Do you have a prescription for Demerol? I am just curious as to why you are asking this Question, didn't your DR go over this with you? I am surprised your asking this question. As Demerol is VERY potent stuff. What is the demerol being prescribed for? I Thought demerol only came in a shot form not even in pills but I could be wrong, but it is definitely much stronger than a 10 mg of Lortab. ( hydrocodone).

I had back surgery 6 months ago and the disc is reherniated. The pain is severe and I can't have the surgery for 3 weeks. He gave me lortab for day and demerol for night but neither is taking the pain away.

Okay thanks for the info I was needing more info, I wasn't aware it came in a pill form but I looked it up and it sure does. It is a lot stronger so I am surprised its not helping your pain maybe it doesn't last long enough? Does it give you any releif?? give it a few days, and than call your dr and let him know its not helping and that you need something stronger don't be surprised if they ask you to bring in the medication to switch it out for something else, this is common. I rarely hear of DR'S prescribing this medication for pain so it through me for a big loop, I always thought it was something one got in the hospital for pain via an injection. I am sorry your suffering but please do call your Dr and ask some questions about the medication, and one of them is how much stronger is this than lortab since your not clear on that. good luck and I hope your surgery is a success.

Yes it helps just not near enough. I have to work and if I am up moving around I am in severe pain still. The doctor called in diazepam 5mg...not sure what it is but he said it should help. We'll see...right now I have my doubts..
